Land Grading, Restoration & Drainage Project in Bergen, Genesee County, New York
Project Overview
A homeowner in Bergen, New York (Genesee County) reached out to us looking for land grading, cleanup, and drainage services. The main concern was uneven ground and poor water flow around both the house and barn. Water tended to sit near the structures instead of draining away. They also had piles of dirt and stone delivered that needed to be used for proper grading and drainage.
How We Completed the Project
Backfilling and Grading at the House
The first step was backfilling for a water service near the house. We spread the pile of delivered topsoil at the side of the house and graded it properly, pitching everything away from the foundation. This ensures water drains toward the road instead of settling against the structure.

Installation of Drainage Tiles at the Barn
Next, we installed drainage tiles that tied into the barn’s downspouts and ran into the small valley behind the property. The washed stone we delivered was used as the drainage base, making sure water flowed efficiently away from the barn.

Grading at the Barn Area
We also restored and reshaped the land around the barn using the dirt and stones we delivered. The area was regraded to raise the grade and protect the structure, while the stones were placed to support the drain tile installation. On the backside, we tapered the slope so the property owner could mow more easily, then backfilled up to the top of the 2x6s to create a solid, level finish. Finally, we pitched everything away from the barn to keep water moving in the right direction.
