Project Overview

Our client was looking for a professional gravel shed pad installer serving in Victor, New York (Ontario County). They purchased a 12’ x 20’ shed from a shed supplier but noticed the yard where it would be placed wasn’t level. The right side needed to be dug down about 6 inches, and the left side would require some type of support to prevent erosion. They reached out to us wanting a strong, clean-looking, long-lasting gravel foundation that would fully support their new shed.

How We Completed the Project

Excavation and Site Preparation

We started by excavating the topsoil where the shed would be placed. The ground was uneven, so we graded it properly to achieve a level base while ensuring the slope drained away from the shed. We made sure to remove and haul away all excavated materials from the site.

Pressure-Treated Timber Shed Border

To manage the elevation change and keep the pad stable, we installed pressure-treated 2×6 and 2×8 timbers around the perimeter. This border helped support the gravel and maintain the clean shape of the shed pad.

Stone Base Installation

Next, we laid geotextile fabric to help with long-term erosion control and maintain the integrity of the stone base. We then brought in and compacted about 20 tons of #1 crusher run gravel. The stone was graded to about 6–8 inches deep, compacted thoroughly, and rolled to create a solid, long-lasting foundation.

To finish it off, we used topsoil around the outside of the shed pad and gently sloped it away to ensure proper drainage and a clean visual finish.

Project Insights

This premium gravel shed pad gave our client the solid, stable base they needed for their new shed – even on sloped ground. The combination of ground preparation, quality geotextile fabric, well-compacted gravel, and a pressure-treated timber border means this foundation is built to last. It’s a clean, cost-effective way to create a long-lasting foundation especially when your yard isn’t perfectly flat.

If you’re planning a shed project of your own, you might also want to create a gravel pathway or even a small driveway leading to it. That’s exactly what we did for another client in our Gravel Pathway Installation Project in Webster, New York, where we built a rustic path that connected the shed to the rest of the property.

And if you’re looking to go all-in, shed pad plus driveway, our Gravel Shed Pad & Gravel Driveway Project in Churchville, Monroe County, New York is a great example of how we handle both at once for a clean, connected setup.
