Gravel Shed Pad Project in Honeoye, Ontario County, New York

Project Overview

Our client in Honeoye, Ontario County, New York, was looking for a gravel shed pad installation contractor to prepare a solid foundation for their new shed. They reached out to us after hearing about our work through a local supplier. The project goal was clear: create a reliable gravel shed pad for a 10’ x 14’ shed on a flat area that sits just above a steep incline from the driveway so proper excavation and grading were key to making this project work.

How We Completed the Project

Ground Preparation

We began by preparing the ground for a 12’ x 16’ gravel shed pad—always built 2 feet larger than the shed itself. Due to the incline, this step required careful excavation and grading to ensure the base was level and safe.

Retaining Wall and Boulder Border Installation

For extra stability and a finished look, we placed larger river rocks as a border around the shed pad. Our excavator operator even joked that it felt like stacking LEGO bricks while positioning the boulders—making it both functional and fun.

Geotextile Fabric and Stone Base

We installed geotextile fabric beneath the pad to prevent weed growth and keep the stone layer stable over time. After that, we spread and compacted 10 tons of #1 Crusher Run stone at a 4-inch depth. Everything was graded and rolled to create a durable surface.

Project Insights

With this project complete, the homeowner now has a strong, reliable base for their shed. The added stone border not only secures the pad against the incline but also gives the area a natural, polished appearance. This type of work is a great example of how careful site preparation and stone installation make all the difference.
