Gravel Repair and Installation and Drainage Project in Marion, Wayne County, New York

Project Overview

A property owner in Marion, New York (Wayne County) reached out to us looking for gravel driveway installation and repair services. They also needed a safe way to cross a creek on their property, which required a culvert pipe. Our client wanted strong, lasting driveways, better access to their barn, and a safe crossing over the creek.

How We Completed the Project

Driveway Repair and Pole Barn Surface

We repaired existing driveways across different sections of the property and added gravel where needed. For the barn’s interior surface, we installed new crushed stones and graded.

Bridge Demolition and Culvert Pipe Installation

We removed the old wood planks from the bridge and installed a 36” x 20’ solid N-12 PE culvert pipe. To protect the pipe, we placed 30 tons of large-diameter stone around it and topped it with 5 tons of crusher run, rolled for compaction. This provided a safe and solid creek crossing for vehicles.

Long Gravel Driveway Installation

A 94’ x 12’ path was created using 4 inches of gravel. To extend its durability, we placed geo-textile fabric under the gravel to prevent mixing with soil and to reduce future maintenance. From the bridge to the barn, we built a 320’ x 12’ driveway with a 10-inch stone base. This driveway also included geo-textile fabric for support and long-term strength.

Additional Access and Parking Areas

  • Barn Access: Installed gravel with geo-textile fabric over a 25’ x 30’ area for smoother barn entry.
  • Inside the Barn: Applied a 2-inch gravel layer over a 40’ x 80’ space to improve the floor.
  • Road Beside Barn: Built a 12’ x 120’ driveway beside the barn.
  • Parking Behind Barn: Constructed a 30’ x 60’ gravel lot with geo-textile fabric to handle vehicle parking.

Project Insights

This project gave our client a complete driveway and parking upgrade. The culvert pipe installation now makes it safe to cross the creek with vehicles, and the gravel driveways and parking areas provide reliable access to the barn and surrounding areas. Geo-textile fabric under key sections means less upkeep and longer-lasting results.

If you’re also looking to strengthen access to your property, this project is a great example of how combining gravel driveways with culvert pipe installation solves both access and drainage problems.
