Gravel Pathway Installed in Webster, New York

Project Overview

Our repeat client reached out to us again to install a proper gravel pathway leading to their shed in Webster, New York (Monroe County). Last year, we installed a gravel pad for their shed. Now, they want a clean, rustic, and practical walkway that wouldn’t turn muddy after rain and would make access to the shed easier and safer year-round. They also wanted it to look natural and blend well into their backyard.

Set on a quiet, tree-lined property, this project gave us the chance to create a pathway that felt right at home in the woods. (And if you’re curious, we also installed a 1,850-foot gravel driveway on raw land in Hilton, New York, check it out!).

Pathway Site Preparation

We began by preparing the 720-square-foot pathway area. We cleared out and excavated loose soil and debris, making sure the surface was ready for a solid gravel base. While working, we also set aside large rocks from around the jobsite and the turnaround area, which would later be used for edging.

Gravel Installation and Rock Edging

To ensure long-term durability, we laid down geotextile fabric across the entire path. This helps keep the gravel from mixing with the soil and maintains stability. After, we brought in and spread 16 tons of #1 Crusher Run Stone over the prepared area. The stone was installed at a consistent 4-inch depth, graded properly for drainage, and then compacted and rolled.

To finish it off, we used the large rocks we had gathered earlier to edge both sides of the pathway. This not only gave the path a clean border but also helped contain the gravel and elevate the overall look.

Natural Stone Steps

Flat rocks already present on the property were repurposed to create natural-looking steps along the left side of the shed adding both function and character to the walkway.

Topsoil Fill

We also delivered and spread 3 yards of triple-screened topsoil into a low spot between the house and the new pathway.

Project Insights

This project is a great example of how a small upgrade can go a long way. What was once an uneven, walkway is now a neat, gravel path that leads right to the shed blending naturally into the property with stone steps and rock edging for visual appeal.
