Concrete Pad and Sidewalk Project in Irondequoit, New York

Project Overview

Our client in Irondequoit, Monroe County, New York reached out to us looking for a sitework contractor who could handle multiple site improvements in one go. They found us after seeing our past projects and wanted us to create a gravel parking pad in the front, remove an old backyard koi pond and slate path, and replace it with a concrete patio and concrete sidewalk.

How We Completed the Project

Gravel Parking Pad Installation

We started at the front of the property by preparing the 250-square-foot space for a new gravel parking area. After scraping and leveling the ground, we laid geotextile fabric for a stable foundation. Then we delivered and spread 10 tons of crusher run stone at a 4-inch depth, grading, compacting, and rolling it for a smooth and durable finish.

Pond and Slate Pathway Removal and Concrete Pad Base Preparation

At the back of the property, the first step was removing the existing koi pond. We cleared away slate and rock around the pond before excavating and filling the space with 10 tons of crushed gravel. This ensured the base was compact and level for the next phase.

Concreting of the Patio and Sidewalk

Once the pond area was prepped, we set the forms for a new 572-square-foot concrete patio and a 6×16 concrete sidewalk. On the scheduled concrete day, we poured 7.5 yards of 4,250 PSI concrete with reinforced fibers. We gave the surface a smooth finish and cut control joints to prevent cracking.

Topsoil and Lawn Restoration

After the heavy work, we turned our attention to restoration. We applied 8 yards of triple-screened topsoil to the areas disturbed by excavation and machine tracks, then spread grass seed and straw for new growth. This step returned the property to a clean, well-kept state.
